Making an impact with Collecting The Diamonds

We've been hard at work delivering Collecting The Diamonds to Schools, Adoption agencies and families up and down the country (and a few overseas too!)

We have just delivered on our biggest order which is with Action For Children. Their Midlands Adoption team will be sharing the book with their new and prospective adopters. We are so thrilled to have been endorsed by one of the most impactful children's charities in the UK.

Collecting the diamonds is now in the hands of over 100 schools to be shared with all their students and better raise awareness of adoption related challenges. We have been overwhelmed with requests from teachers seeing the need in their school and wanting to get hold of their copy.

The YouTube video has been viewed over 850 times and the online version of the book has seen hundreds of views.

We've really started a conversation about adoption and the needs of adopted people by speaking on BBC Radio Nottingham, Notts TV and BBC East Midlands today. We've had so much feedback from adoptive families how important representation is.

Our recent interview with The Metro for their Adoption Month feature, really highlighted the vast challenges adopted people face at school and how the education system is failing adopted children. We made some key recommendations on how the system can improve.

Siobhan will be leading a webinar on 25th November to talk about the dual perspectives of adopter and adoptee and how these are reflected in the book.

Here's some of the lovely stuff our families and professionals have been saying:

M, a parent from Massachusetts. "I wanted to let you know how much we love your book. My daughter, now 21, was adopted from foster care almost ten years ago and I wish your book had existed when I met her. You book was and still is very much needed"

Mrs H, A teacher in the UK "Can't wait to read this to my class, Great to raise awareness of adoptive families and introduce a lovely strategy in which you use "Diamond Moments" to soothe overwhelming emotions. Thank you for this"

We hope to share even more updates with you in the coming months. For now though, thank you so much for continuing to support us and we will speak to you soon

Sian and Siobhan
