Create You is a new charity which hopes to provide and facilitate artistic opportunities for families affected by the care system, fostering and adoption. Through the arts we want to empower people to own their story. We want to enrich lives, improve life chances and support people to thrive.
Create You is seeking a diverse board of trustees as the company becomes a registered charity and begins its first creative projects. This is an important role as founding trustees at a pivotal time to help shape the organisation.
As a trustee you will:
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults is at the centre everything you and the charity does.
Have a sound understanding of the charitable purpose of Create You, its core objectives and values.
Comply with the charity’s governing document. Have an understanding of regulatory obligations concerning the charity’s activities.
Act in the charity’s best interests in serving children and vulnerable adults, making smart charitable decisions
Read and scrutinise reports in order to make well-informed decisions.
About you
You will have a passion for improving the life chances and wellbeing of those affected by the care system, fostering and adoption. You will have an awareness of the transformative power of the arts. You will be a diplomatic challenger who is willing to lean in to difficult conversations in the best interest of the charity. Ideally you will have an established network of industry contacts.

Essential Criteria
We are looking for as greater depth and breadth of experience as we can. You will have experience in at least one of the following specialisms
- The social care sector
- Fundraising including Trust, individual or Corporate Fundraising
- Social prescribing or arts and health
- Evaluation and performance analysis
- Community Arts
- Marketing and Communications
- Local authority or public sector partnerships
- Safeguarding
Preferred skills and attributes
- Financial planning
- Analysis and evaluation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Challenging and Diplomatic
- Competent in the use of digital technologies
